Class of 2007

RAECEEN ANUENUE WOOLFORD

Could it be mere coincidence that someone with the middle name of “Anuenue” would end up as a Rainbow Wahine? Not in Raeceen Woolford’s mind.

“I had choices to play other places, but I felt like God wanted to keep me home for a reason,” she said. “I’ve questioned many a time my purpose for being here.

“I believe I was placed on the team to be a spiritual advocate, to show my teammates the bigger picture, give them perspective and remind them to stay humble. I am so blessed to be part of an amazing program.”

Woolford’s athleticism - she holds the program record for vertical touch at 36-plus inches - has been enhanced by yoga, “something I’ve been doing since ‘03 but really embraced over the summer,” she said. “I love how I’m able to infuse my spirituality with the posing, become centered and focused, body and mind.”

And the focus on the court is a title to cap her senior year. “I am so confident and excited,” the libero said. “There’s something special about this year’s team. I think we’ll blow some people away.”
