Billions in redevelopment is transforming Waikiki, a once-tired concrete jungle, into what many are hoping will become the showcase of the visitor district and an attractive place for kamaaina to live and play.

While Outrigger Enterprises Group’s $535 million redevelopment of the Waikiki Beach Walk on Lewers Street spurred massive renovation and rekindled interest in a region that many thought had seen its best days, Star-wood and Kyo-ya have announced the largest Waikiki renovation. Starwood and Kyo-ya’s $750 million Waikiki renewal proves that Waikiki’s transformation is far from over.
